The Emergency Medicine and Support Center (EMSC) has participated in the High-Level Policy Dialogue on Healthcare Reform in Libya, held under the theme "Strengthening National Capacities and Learning from International Experiences," at the invitation of the Libyan Ministry of Health.
The event brought together leading local and international health officials and experts. The Center was represented by its official spokesperson along with several doctors and medical staff members, reflecting its ongoing commitment to supporting the development of Libya's healthcare sector and strengthening cooperation with international partners.
This participation comes as part of the Center's efforts to promote knowledge exchange and benefit from international expertise in order to improve healthcare quality and enhance medical services provided to citizens across the country.
In a related development, the Center received a delegation from the World Health Organization (WHO) in the presence of His Excellency the Minister of Health, Mr. Mohammed Al-Ghwej. The visit aimed to assess the Center's capabilities and review its level of preparedness in responding to emergencies.
The delegation included Dr. Hanan Balkhy, WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean, Dr. Ahmed Zouiten, WHO Country Representative, and Senior Advisor Hisham Al-Bari. They were welcomed by the Center's leadership, who delivered a comprehensive presentation outlining the Center's mandate and its critical role in supporting the national healthcare system, particularly in emergency care, ambulance services, and rapid response operations.
The visit also featured a field tour during which the delegation observed the installation of the Center's new field hospital — an important addition that significantly enhances operational capacity in managing emergencies, disasters, and public health crises.
Furthermore, the Center showcased its current state of readiness as well as its technical and logistical capabilities, as part of its ongoing efforts to meet the accreditation and licensing requirements for Emergency Medical Teams (EMT) in alignment with World Health Organization standards.
The Emergency Medicine and Support Center is one of Libya's leading health institutions, continuing to operate around the clock through its free hotline 1412 and digital support services to provide emergency medical assistance to citizens in all regions.
These steps come at a time when Libya is seeking to develop its healthcare system and improve the quality of medical services through cooperation with international organizations and by drawing on global best practices in emergency healthcare and crisis management.
