The Libya Energy & Economic Summit (LEES) 2027 will host a dedicated In-Country Value Forum on January 24 in Tripoli, bringing together policymakers, international operators and young Libyan professionals to shape the future of the nation's rapidly expanding energy sector. The forum arrives as Libya targets a production capacity of 2 million barrels per day by 2030, backed by major international partners including TotalEnergies, Repsol, Eni and OMV.
The forum will feature a dedicated session on women in the energy sector, addressing one of the most critical gaps in Libya's workforce development. As the country accelerates its upstream and downstream expansion under the National Oil Corporation and Ministry of Oil and Gas, ensuring that women and young professionals have meaningful entry points into the industry has become a strategic priority. The Energy Academy session will focus on education-to-employment pipelines linking universities, vocational institutes and international operators.
The Digital Skills and AI session will examine how rapid digitization is transforming Libya's oil and gas operations. Platforms introduced under the National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence (2025–2030) are enabling predictive maintenance, real-time telemetry and automated production optimization across brownfield assets. Telecom providers and service firms are addressing connectivity gaps in remote basins, ensuring that digital infrastructure keeps pace with operational demands. This technological shift is creating new career pathways for young Libyans with skills in data science, automation and digital engineering.
Libya sits on the largest proven oil reserves in Africa, yet for decades the sector has relied heavily on foreign expertise. The In-Country Value Forum represents a fundamental shift — from importing talent to building it domestically. For ordinary Libyans, this means thousands of new jobs, modern training facilities and a clear pathway from classroom to career. The 7,000 graduates being mobilized across 50 cities represent not just numbers, but families gaining financial stability and communities gaining economic momentum. As international operators commit to local hiring quotas, the economic benefits of Libya's energy wealth are finally being channeled back into Libyan hands.
When LEES 2027 opens its doors in Tripoli on January 23, it will mark the fifth edition of what has become the premier international platform for Libya's energy transformation. The In-Country Value Forum adds a powerful new dimension — ensuring that Libya's natural wealth translates into human capital, technological capability and long-term economic resilience. For a country that has endured years of instability, this focus on youth, women, AI and workforce development signals a forward-looking vision. The world is watching, and Libya is ready to lead.
